Elmhurst employees are also committed to giving back to the community by volunteering their time at organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. Employees at Elmhurst-owed Doubletree Hotel Pittsburgh City Centre have participated in programs for the Miller African Centered Academy, Light of Life Ministries, Special Olympics, Mister Rogers Neighborhood Sweater Drive, and Toys for Tots.
Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership
Elmhurst President Bill Hunt served as chairman of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership in 2003-2006. Created in 1994 to clean and promote Downtown, the partnership derives $1.17 million of its $4 million budget from a tax on Golden Triangle property owners. The rest comes from members, foundations and other sources.
Pittsburgh Public Theater
As past-president of the Pittsburgh Public Theater, Bill Hunt led the drive for the Public's move into the award-winning O'Reilly Theater. Designed by world-renowned architect Michael Graves, the theater is located in the heart of Pittsburgh's Cultural District at 621 Penn Avenue.
